Adding Color to Your Home

If you’ve been thinking of adding some color to your home—whether in small doses in accent pieces or in large ways like painting walls—you might be trying to figure out which color to choose. Did you know there are trends in colors? Would it appeal to you to be able to use the trending color for the year? If you’d like some advice on how to add color in your home, speak with a trained consultant at Shutter Guy here in Charleston.

Pantone Color Institute Color of the Year

This year, the Pantone Color Institute—widely known as the authority on all things color—has selected PANTONE Greenery (15-0343) as the trending color for 2017. Selecting the Color of the Year takes approximately nine months. The staff at PANTONE explores a variety of industries to collect what they refer to as “proof points.” They review the latest from the auto industry, designer runways, and interior decorating showcases. Once they identify the trends, they narrow down the choices. And all of the signs pointed to Greenery. Check out this YouTube video to see it in action!

Using This Year’s Green

Called “fresh and zesty,” Greenery evokes a sense of nature and brings people back to the environment. It pairs with other earthy colors, and helps remind consumers to “take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.” Incorporating this trending color into your home environment is easier than you might think. Use décor or accessories. Or consider changing your window treatments. Hunter Douglas offers many different blinds and shades, in fabrics and colors that are nature-inspired and able to bring the feel of greenery to your home. Here are a few choices:

• Silhouette® Window Shading with Matisse® Quartette® fabric in color A25-508, Painter’s Passion
• Duette® Architella® Honeycomb Shade with fabric in color C43-696, Oregano
• Vignette® Modern Roman Shades with Heather fabric in color FZ10-337, Clover Field
