2014 Dragonboat Festival

Andy Long, owner of Shutter-Guy in Charleston, SC is a long time cancer survivor and a huge supporter of local events benefiting cancer. One such event was the 7th Annual Dragonboat Festival at Brittlebank Park last month that celebrated survivors of cancer.

67 teams gathered by the Ashley River in the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boating to raise money to fight cancer with over 5,000 in attendance cheering them on. Although Andy could not physical participate this year – he was fighting a bug, he cheered from the shore. Check out the video to learn more:

The Dragonboat Festival is one of the Lowcountry’s most exceptional events. There were creative costumes, great food and of course lots of paddling. A celebration for cancer survivors, there was no lack of fun and in the end they raised over $150,000. Additionally, the generosity of the sponsors underwrote the cost of the festival so that 100% of the paddler donations would go towards the cancer survivor programs of Dragon Boat Charleston.
