Meet Andy Long – The Shutter Guy

Andy Long, Owner of the Shutter Guy has been selling window treatments for over 25 years, but he didn’t start out that way.

After graduating from Clemson University with a BS in Chemical Engineering, Andy held various engineering, operations, and plant management positions for 3 different international chemical corporations until 1994, when he finally had enough of corporate life and decided it was time for a change.

In spring of 1994, Andy started his first window treatment venture called All Blinds 4 U in Collierville, TN, and he has never looked back. Andy was born in Greenville, SC, and has lived in Chicago, Cleveland, and Memphis. He moved back to South Carolina in 2002 and has called it home ever since.

He has three grown children and is a cancer survivor, Colon Stage 3. Clean and clear since September 2011. Andy’s family is no stranger to cancer.  His oldest sister has been battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma for over two years, his middle sister has been treated for pre-melanoma, and his father passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. But through it all, Andy pushes on by giving back to those in need and dedicating his time, as well as monetary donations, to cancer related charities, both personally and through Shutter Guy.

Andy paddles for his favorite cancer survivors support organization, The Charleston Dragon Boat Club (DBC).  DBC has been paddling hard since 2003 with the mission of promoting physical and mental wellness among cancer survivors and their community.

Andy’s lifelong passion is soccer.  He played and coached for 35 years, playing at all levels, including 5 years of semi-pro in Chicago, as well as 10 years at the Open Division amateur level. He also has his professional coaching license and has coached at the club level for five years.

He now is a dedicated professional spectator and “futball” supporter. For Andy’s current passion, look for him on the dance floor.  He is an advocate and active participant in all types of dancing (cha-cha, swing, shag, salsa).  Currently Andy is in an apprenticeship program to become a salsa instructor.

Andy is now an authorized Hunter Douglas window treatment dealer and offers blinds, shades and shutters to meet anyones budget.

So whether it is window treatments, how to become more involved in supporting cancer efforts, or a passion to learn to salsa, Andy is here to lead the way!
