Bedroom Window Treatments for a Good Night of Sleep
To function at our best, we need to have a full night’s rest. At Shutter Guy here in Charleston, our customers often tell us that the main thing that keeps them from having a restful sleep is too much light allowed in their rooms through their bedroom window treatments. If you’ve been suffering from not enough sleep due to light in your room, contact one of our consultants today. We will be happy to help you find the right treatment that will help you sleep a full night.
Understanding Your Window Covering Options
Every Hunter Douglas window covering provides some amount of light control, depending on its fabric and color, light gaps, seams, and rout holes. Ask yourself how much light you like to have come through your windows in the morning. Maybe a semi-opaque fabric that allows muted light to enter the room is more your style. Regardless of your choice, Hunter Douglas window fashions has the perfect blinds, shades, or shutters to meet your needs.
Blackout Materials
If total darkness is what you want, then you look for a window treatment that has “true” blackout materials in the collection. You might also want to consider mounting your blinds or shades on the outside of your window frame to minimize the light gap. Consider the following:
- Duette® Honeycomb Shades-both horizontal and vertical applications
- Wood blinds with de-Light™ (which counteracts the rout holes)
- Roller shades
Room-Darkening Window Treatments
Semi-opaque and opaque materials almost completely block out the light. We say “almost” because, if you select these fabrics, they do a good job darkening a room, but do not entirely eliminate light. Window coverings that offer room-darkening materials include Silhouette® Window Shadings, Pirouette® Window Shadings, and Duette® Honeycomb Shades. Another option for room-darkening capabilities is to add a liner that is available on many of our shades, including Provenance® Woven Woods, Silhouette® Window Fashions, and Designer Roller Shades.
