Window Treatments for Light & Interest in Charleston SC

How To Add Interest Using Window Treatments

As you shop for new window treatments, remember that, no matter what product you choose, while the style, color, and texture of your window treatment will add interest, so will how the light is controlled when it enters the room. At Shutter Guy, our trained consultants will be happy to discuss with you the ways that all of the options could impact your room and the feeling your windows will evoke.

“Open Concept” Floor Plans

These days, with more and more open concept homes, controlling light is a little different in the space. Fabric selection certainly plays a big part in controlling light, as does how the blind or shade operates. For example, traditional blinds can be raised from the bottom up only. Others are from the top down only. Then there are the blinds that can do both simultaneously, which can meet all of your privacy needs while giving you access to natural light.

Finally, there’s the Hunter Douglas solution called Duolite, which offers maximum light control. It’s also two shades in one—the top shade is made out of a sheer fabric, and the bottom shade is made out of a semi-opaque or blackout fabric. When the top shade is down, the light is filtered. When the bottom shade is raised up, you have room darkening.

Operation

Many window treatments offer different types of operating systems, including motorization. You can choose cordless, wand, and other easy, clean, efficient methods. Hunter Douglas offers all of these choices on many of their most popular window treatments, including Applause® Honeycomb Shades, roman shades, pleated shades, Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades, Provenance® Woven Wood Blinds, Silhouette® Privacy Sheers, and Pirouette® Window Shadings. Speak to a consultant to determine what will be the best for your needs.
