Mixing Patterns in Window Fashions

Interior designs trends this year are pointing toward floral prints and patterns coming back and making a splash in home décor. From floral and abstracts to geometric patterns, using patterns in your home décor is sure to bring life to any room. At The Shutter Guy serving Charleston, we carry a variety of window fashions for any decorating style, including a complete line of blinds, shutters, and shades from Hunter Douglas. We also offer custom drapery and other fabric accessories to help you bring the perfect pattern into your room design.

Pairing Floral & Patterns With An Existing Window Treatments

Your existing window treatments can take on a new life. For example, if you have cream colored Hunter Douglas Duette® honeycomb shades in your windows, simply add drapery panels or a topper. Use your room’s décor to gather inspiration. Select fabrics in patterns and complementary colors to add interest.

Go Bold with Your Window Treatments

Today’s vast selection of window coverings offers a wide variety of colors, patterns. Of course the traditional solids are always an option, but we also carry blinds and shades with geometric and floral patterns. It’s like creating “art” at the window!

Not Sure How to Pick & Match Colors?

You have heard the saying opposite attract? The same can be true with colors. Take for example, black and white. When you hear the word “complementary” with regard to color, that can sometimes mean the colors are opposite of each other.

If you have trouble visualizing complementary colors, try using a color wheel. Every color has a complementary color. One way to choose colors to complement a primary color in your decor is to pick a color and go to the opposite side of the color wheel to find complementary color. If you want “true” complementary colors, select colors that are the same distance from the center of the wheel. But remember, color is in the eye of the beholder and you should select what looks good to you. Look for patterns that include your primary design color, even if it’s not used dominantly.

Floral Patterns

Tropical floral patterns are surging in popularity. Fabrics can be bold or muted. Try mixing and matching patterns to create a unique look. Indigo blue is a hot color right now, getting its inspiration from denim.

Don’t Forget To Accessorize

Of course, no room is complete without the finishing touches. Go wild with pillows, throws and room accents to complete the look you are going for.
