Tax Credit on Select Hunter Douglas Window Shades
If you’ve been thinking about getting new window treatments but are concerned that you won’t be able to afford them, be aware that qualifying window treatments could earn you a tax credit that might help. The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015, which gave federal tax credits on select energy-efficient products, have been reinstated for 2016. Duette Architella Energy Efficiency
Many Hunter Douglas window shades have energy-saving benefits. Duette Architella honeycomb shades, have a higher rating than others. With their patented cell-within-a-cell design, they are federally recognized as an energy-efficient product. For example, summertime solar heat gain on an uncovered window is almost 76%. If the same window is covered with Duette Architella products, it drops to only 15%.
Tax Credit
Purchase any qualifying energy-efficient Hunter Douglas products from the Alustra® Collection of Duette® Architella® honeycomb shades or Duette® Architella® honeycomb shades collection between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2016, and have it installed by December 31, 2016, to be eligible for the credit. This credit is for existing homes only and not intended for new construction. For specific details and restrictions, refer to the Manufacturer’s Certification Statements for each product at www.hunterdouglas.com/taxcredit. Qualifying products are eligible for a tax credit of 10% of the cost, up to $500 in total during the 2016 tax year. $500 is the maximum combined total amount that can be claimed for all purchases of qualifying energy-efficient products placed in service during this period. Consult your tax advisor regarding your individual tax situation and your ability to claim this tax credit.
